Inspired by Semi-Detached by Michael Landy
Living Gallery is a interdisciplinary arts project bringing to life a work of art through performance art. In the projects I co-directed at BRIT School and NMBEC, London, UK, Year 10 and 12 students became ‘exhibits’ within a promenade gallery around the schools’ indoor and outdoor spaces. They creatively collaborated making art, theatre, dance, music pieces out into the maths classroom, corridor, garden or in a stock cupboard, for example. This was a great cross-curricular project with students learning new skills, and embraced contemporary approaches to make work outside art studios and theatre spaces. This was often site-specific, and both individually and collaboratively. I also set up the project at Dulwich Picture Gallery, London, UK.
