Welcome to my work-in-progress portfolio site!
I’m Harriet an artist, parent, educator and general wonderer and wanderer from London, currently out to play and enjoying more to life slowing down and breathing in Berlin.
Background: Harriet has been in Berlin since April 2013. She is a UK qualified Visual Arts and Design teacher, having worked for many years as Director of Visual Arts and Design at The BRIT School, alongside her art practice, and parent to a fun and lovely 2 1/2 year old.
Artistically, Harriet has a BA in Fine Art, MA in Theatre, (Visual Language of Performance.) She has made many performative events in London, including at The Nunnery, Camden People’s Theatre, Duckie @ The Royal Vauxhall Tavern, and in Alte Saline, Hallein, Austria. She especially loves beautifully illustrated books, making up stories, vintage and homemade craft, and creating artworks across live art, photography, video, illustration and craft. Precious family sketchbook time is also high on her list of loves. She enjoys wandering through and being curious in this beautiful and bonkers visual city, hand in hand with her daughter and their big open eyes and minds.
Educationally, she has a PGCE (Secondary,) and PGCERT (Innovation in Education, exploring international and cross-arts collaborations.) Harriet has taught all age ranges, in schools, colleges and in community settings. She has engaged in devising projects from creating nursery (kita) animated visuals for a Christmas play, to devising and leading a cyanotype and installation project in a hospice with teenagers, creating and directing a school show at The Rag Factory, to teaching adults pinhole photography in a community day centre.
She is currently starting up little art classes for children from 5 months up to 5 years.
